Not just for hormonal boys

Comics. It all started when my mom went to a garage sale and bought a box of comics for a few bucks. There were several X-men story lines (inc. some of the Jean Grey/clone foolishnes and Storm losing her powers), some Fantastic Four, She-Hulk and more. I started reading, and I couldn't stop. I was hooked. Only recently was I able to break my X-men addiction. That stupid alternate 'gritty'world thing just pissed me off.

One of the comics I read that redeems comichood is "Bitchy Bitch" by Roberta Gregory. Roberta is a fabulous cartoonist who has been self-publishing since the 1970s (first woman to self publish a comic). Although Bitchy is Roberta's most famous creation, I really enjoy reading all of her comics. Check out my page on her, info, comic updates, and a collection of all the Roberta Gregory pages altavista and I could find (which sadly isn't that many. grrr).

Nicole Hollander's "Sylvia" is a total favorite of mine. I worship her. First of all for the silly hats, secondly for the awesome cats, thirdly for the random vocab, fourthly for the odd running jokes, fifthly for love cop and sixthly because she rules.

Nina Paley writes really great comics, some of which you can see on a hypertext web page

One fateful evening during finals period I borrowed some comics from a friend of mine. She tossed in a "Sandman" comic and, because I had a paper to write (on Roberta Gregory no less), I started reading. Hours later, I was totally pitifully hooked. Neil Gaiman, who does the "Sandman" is amazing. The comics are filled with details, esoteric references, and lovely little scenes that argh. Just go to the Dreaming and it will make more sense.
